A Secure Travel Environment

What We Guarantee for Every Teen Traveller

At NOMAD Outdoor Division, safety is not just a part of our work; it is the foundation of everything we do. Each of our programmes is designed with one priority: ensuring that every participant is protected, supported, and supervised at all times, from departure to return. We adhere to strict operational standards, detailed protocols, and internationally recognised best practices to ensure a secure, well-organised, and enriching experience for every teenager.

A Clear, Robust Safety Framework

Pre-Trip Planning & Risk Assessment

Before each departure, we conduct a comprehensive operational review that includes:

  • Destination-specific risk assessment

  • Transportation and accommodation checks

  • Review of planned activities and emergency access points

  • Verification of local partners and service providers

  • Health and hygiene checks

  • Backup solutions for transport and logistics

Every trip is only approved when all safety conditions are fully validated.

24/7 Supervision & Trained Team

Supervision Ratio

We maintain a strict adult-to-participant ratio based on the destination and activities, ensuring close support and the ability to intervene immediately. Our ratio is 1 tour leader for every 5 participants. This ratio is higher than in most traditional youth travel companies.

Trained & Verified Tour Leaders

Every Tour Leader:

• is thoroughly vetted and interviewed

• undergoes identity and background checks

• is trained in youth supervision, conflict management, and daily trip operations

• holds first-aid/CPR certificates (or is paired with a certified staff member when required)

• follows our Safety & Conduct Framework

Our teams are chosen for their maturity, responsibility, and capacity to guide and support teenagers in all situations.

24/7 On-Site Presence

Our Tour Leaders offer consistent supervision throughout the trip and stay present during all organised activities, transfers, and group moments. At certain times, such as during supervised free time or meal periods in designated safe zones, participants may have limited autonomy, always within clearly defined boundaries and subject to regular check-ins.

A dedicated coordination team is available 24/7 for both families and Tour Leaders.

Medical Support & Urgent Care Procedures

Health Monitoring

Before departure, parents provide medical details to ensure proper supervision. Tour Leaders are trained to monitor:

• signs of fatigue

• hydration

• heat-related risks

• dietary restrictions

• medication routines (under parental instruction)

Emergency Protocol

In the event of an incident or illness, our teams immediately follow documented procedures:

1. Take safety actions promptly (isolate danger, support participant)

2. Have a trained Tour Leader assess the situation

3. Contact local emergency services if necessary

4. Notify parents

5. Provide medical follow-up and monitoring

6. Complete the incident report and ensure traceability

We always prioritise healthcare professionals for diagnosis and treatment.

Access to Local Medical Care

Every destination is chosen based on:

• availability of reliable medical facilities

• proximity to urgent-care centres

• transportation access in case of emergency

Participants are never left without medical support.

Insurance & Legal Compliance

Comprehensive Insurance Coverage

All participants receive:

• travel insurance

• medical assistance

• repatriation coverage

Optional extensions are also available for particular activities or personal needs.

Fully Compliant Travel Operations

We follow all relevant regulations concerning:

• youth travel

Our operating model aligns with the best practices of international youth travel organisations.

Behaviour, Rules & Daily Structure

Clear Code of Conduct

Failure to comply may result in disciplinary measures, including an early return at the family’s expense, depending on the severity.

•adherence to schedules

•supervision during free time
